Blue Hayze is a blues/rock band featuring the bluesy style lead vocal of local talent Sarah Hays. Sarah appeared on the 2008 Blues Festival in Wheeling. Her unique vocal style and ability are getting well-deserved area rave reviews. Wheeling resident Shane Pasqualla’s powerful, searing lead guitar style and vocals provide the rock solid drive and high powered energy of the band. Rhythm guitar and background vocals are handled by St. Clairsville native Mike Schumacher.  His melodic, smooth rhythm guitar provides the underlying foundation of the sound. Drummer Bruce Harris helps define the solid, driving drum back beat of Blue Hayze. The bottom-end bass guitar groove is laid down by St. Clairsville resident Leslie Alderman.    

Blue Hayze was formed in September of 2008 by Sarah Hays and Mike Schumacher after years of being a duo playing various clubs. Following Sarah’s appearance on the Wheeling Blues Fest in 2008, the decision to form a blues band was made. They asked bass player Leslie Alderman to join. He in turn contacted guitarist Shane Pasqualla asking him to join. Drummer Bruce Harris joined in late 2009. Months of weekly rehearsals and recording have produced a powerfully unique sound. Blue Hayze now becomes one of the only area bands featuring a female vocalist doing material other than country.
